The collection of Personal Information (PI) by businesses has become ubiquitous, and most consumers have little or to o idea about how their PI is being used, retained, and shared. Data privacy laws and regulation in the U.S. generally have been limited to specific industries, such as healthcare, banking, and credit. However, a sea change is coming in 2020 with new data privacy rights for consumers that will affect businesses regardless of industry and location. Georgia lawyers need to understand these new state laws around data privacy and how o best advise their clients for hte impending tide.
